Common questions
Why should I use a quote template?
Most garages will give you a vague estimate unless you ask for itemisation. Presenting a structured template signals that you expect a full breakdown — labour hours, hourly rate, parts prices, and VAT. It protects you from inflated bills and makes it much easier to compare quotes.
Do garages have to provide an itemised quote?
In the UK, garages are not legally required to itemise quotes unprompted, but under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, any price agreed in advance is binding. By requesting an itemised quote before work begins, you have a clear basis to challenge any unexpected additions.
How do I use the template?
Open the template, fill in your vehicle details and describe the problem, then print or save as PDF and email or hand it to the garage. Ask them to complete it before you authorise the work. Once you receive their quote, upload it to Kwoute to check every line.
What's the difference between the consumer and business templates?
The consumer template is a single-page format for personal vehicle repairs. The business template includes space for multiple vehicles, a cover letter for fleet operators, and fields suited to VAT-registered businesses requesting quotes for commercial vehicle maintenance.
